With more than 30 million small businesses in the U.S., there’s no doubt that branching out on your own is appealing. You can be your own boss, pursue your passions or create a legacy.

However, while these sentiments are shared among many business owners, no two experiences are alike.

So we asked small business owners (and Thryv users) across the country to talk about their journey and share some wisdom they’ve picked up along the way.

‘Thryv Asks’ Episode 1 Guests:

Dr. Neha Patel, owner of NOC Chiropractic & Wellness Center. Located in Brea, Calif. She provides chiropractic services, massage and physical therapy sessions.

Kevin Ryan, founder of Long Island Photography Studio, in Long Island, N.J. Ryan offers a variety of packages including portraits, engagements and even equestrian photography.

Sarah Canning, of Gadgets Made EaZy in Falmouth, Mass. Canning educates folks frustrated by electronics, and helps her clients set up technology within their homes.

Hollis Fullilove, founder and CEO of Crane Financial, a financial services firm in East Chicago, Ind. Fullilove provides accounting services for small businesses and non-profits as well as tax planning services to businesses and individuals.

In this inaugural episode, we pose the question: “What is your favorite part of owning your own business?”

Canning says she can control her schedule and make time for her family, but also has the ability to adjust her business model to adapt to her client’s needs.

Fullilove echoed this sentiment. He says the ability to pivot allowed him to provide his clients with the services they needed during the pandemic.
