With all the excitement about mobile marketing, mobile websites, mobile advertising, it’s good to be reminded that the best outcome for any local business from all that mobility is an old-fashioned phone call.

Call tracking service Invoca surveyed mobile phone users and found that’s still a preferred way to contact businesses: 65% said they had called a business in the past month vs. 24% who said they had filled out a contact form on their phones.

A clear majority said they prefer to discuss $100-plus purchases in a call. And 80% said a good phone experience would make them a repeat customer.

One implication: Treat those phone calls like the valuable leads they are, ideally with a call tracking system or customer relationship management software.
