Although not an essential business, Rachel Bowers of Brooklyn Bark dog walking and pet sitting service, has found ways to stay connected to her clients, especially for those who work in the medical field. Her team has continued to care for those clients’ pets for free while they work in nearby Brooklyn Hospital. However, Rachel’s business has been officially closed since mid-March, and she says everyone is looking at new safety-first procedures when they’re able to open again.

On the latest episode of the “Winning on Main Street” podcast, she explains how her team has managed in these last few months and how she received support from SBA loans and a grant from the Thryv Foundation. “It was the easiest, and it was amazing,” she says of the application process for the Thryv grant. “It was the first guiding light that showed up for us, and we felt like: Oh, there is hope out there.”
