Looking for new ways to boost your business’s performance on Twitter? These three simple tips will help grow your Twitter audience, reach and exposure.

1)  Exposure – Pin a Tweet

Twitter is a fast moving social network. New content pushes older content out of the way fairly quickly, meaning that it’s easy for your tweets to go unnoticed. If there’s an important tweet that you want your customers to see, then you need to pin it to the top of your Twitter page. When you pin a tweet, it will be the first thing visitors will see when they come to your Twitter page, resulting in more traffic for the specific tweet.

How to pin a tweet:

  1. Locate the tweet you’d like to pin.
  2. Click the three little dots (extra tools) menu at the bottom right of the tweet.
  3. Select “pin to your profile page.”

2) Reach – Increase Retweets

Tracksocial conducted researched showing that the ideal Tweet length is 100 characters. Keeping tweets under 100 characters provides enough room for your followers to RT (retweet), QT (quote tweet) and MT (modify tweet). By using all 140 characters you may be limiting the number of retweets and engagement that your tweets could be getting.


3) Engagement – Twitter Lists

Does your business use Twitter lists? If not, you should. A Twitter list is a curated group of Twitter users. Viewing a list timeline will show you a stream of tweets from only the users that you added to that list. A great way to use a Twitter list for your business is to create a list of your most loyal customers (followers). This way you can thank those fans for retweeting you, sharing about your business and give them a little extra love for supporting your business.

To create a Twitter list, start by going to your Twitter avatar in the top right and click “lists.”

Then on the right side choose “create new list.” You’ll then be prompted to name your Twitter list, add a description if you’d like, and set the privacy. Now, save your list. After you create a list, start adding fans to it. To add someone to a list, go over to their Twitter profile then click on the settings icon, scroll to and choose “add or remove from lists”. Then select the list you’d like to add them to.
