[Podcast] From Bids to Birch: How One Wood Care Business Manages The Daily Grind

Entrepreneur Lance Whatley started Heeler Wood Care in Dallas, Texas about 10 years ago. The company built their notoriety in wood staining but has since expanded their services into the construction and design of fences, pergolas, decks, gazebos and more.

Chris Burch handles operations, advertising and sales for Heeler Wood Care. According to Chris, success in the wood business is all about managing skilled teams of subcontractors. But even with a solid team in place, the real trick is getting found in the first place.

Hear more about how Heeler Wood Care manages their work and their online presence in the latest episode of “Winning on Main Street”.

A Sneak Peek

According to Chris, they complete anywhere from 2 or 3 big projects a week to several smaller staining projects in a single day. But with growing capabilities and offerings, they needed help managing the daily demands of the business.

“Over the last year, we’ve gone from staining to building very fine fences both metal, obviously wood…it’s amazing how many folks out there have wood decks that need refinishing. It’s not an easy task, and it takes a lot of technical know-how to do it successfully and be profitable with it. And we are expanding even more as we speak.”
