John Slater, CFA
Lead Independent Director
John Slater, CFA, is an investment leader with 20+ years of experience across private credit, special situations, and fintech-enabled lending. He most recently served as Chief Investment Officer of Hum Capital, building a technology-enabled specialty finance platform from the ground up.
Previously, John was Head of Credit at GPI Capital where he focused on growth debt. Prior to GPI, John was a partner at Paulson & Co. Inc. where he ran the credit team and focused on investments in telecom and media. He trained and invested at Lehman Brothers and he started his career in strategy consulting.
John has served as a director of Thryv since July 2016, chairman of the Audit Committee since September 2020, and Lead Independent Director since December 2021. John previously served on Dex Media’s board of directors from 2013 to 2015 and was a director of SuperMedia, Inc. from 2010-2013.
He has an MBA from INSEAD, an MA and BA in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA Charterholder. He also earned the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Finance.
