More Leads, More Appointments, More Growth: How K&L Roofing Scaled with Thryv

When Steven and Amanda Sullivan launched K&L Roofing in Maryville, Tennessee, they managed everything themselves — estimates, scheduling, customer communication, and field coordination. As the company grew, so did the complexity. Missed appointments, scattered information, and a disjointed customer experience made it hard to keep up, especially with nine crew members and subcontractors in the field.

They knew they needed a system that could support their growth. That’s when they turned to Thryv.

One of the first transformations came through Thryv’s scheduling tools. By bringing appointments, client contact info, and reminders into a single system, K&L Roofing nearly doubled the number of daily appointments. Automated reminders helped cut down on no-shows — and with easy access to customer history, the office became more efficient, and clients more confident.

Working closely with their Thryv Business Advisor, K&L Roofing doubled its monthly ad spend — and saw its lead volume soar by 146%. But it wasn’t just more leads: the quality improved. Thanks to better targeting and follow-up, the company now closes around 70% of its leads, turning inquiries into paying customers with more consistency than ever.

Before Thryv, K&L Roofing’s website was buried — stuck on page 5 of Google in their local service area. But Thryv’s website and SEO team took over, rebuilding their website and optimizing their search presence. The results were dramatic: in under 4 months, K&L Roofing jumped to page 1 in Google for their core market in Maryville, and they’ve expanded into nearby areas like Knoxville, all while keeping a strong local identity.

Thryv isn’t just about marketing — it powers K&L Roofing’s entire operation. They now track:

• Estimates (signed and unsigned)
• Paid and unpaid invoices
• Deposits
• Advertising spend
• Customer interactions

Today, 75% of their customers now use ThryvPay to make secure online payments, simplifying the billing process and boosting cash flow. Instead of juggling multiple software tools, the Sullivans lean on Thryv as their central hub — everything from lead gen to payments lives in one platform.

Automated reminders, digital estimates, online payments, and organized communication have transformed how customers perceive the business. The Sullivans now deliver a consistent, polished experience that builds trust and reinforces their reputation as a reliable local roofing company.

According to Steven and Amanda, they’d never go back to juggling spreadsheets and disconnected apps. As Amanda put it, “We literally track estimates, paid and unpaid invoices, deposits, advertising — everything. It’s a one-stop shop for us.”

For them, Thryv didn’t just solve operational problems — it helped them transform their business identity, backing up their ambition to grow with real systems and real results.

K&L Roofing’s journey is proof that scaling wisely means more than just adding crew members or investing in ads. It’s about building a foundation — process, visibility, and tools — that supports both growth and customer trust.

If you’re a service business owner feeling stretched thin or looking to level up, their story is a powerful example: the right platform, like Thryv, can be the difference between chaos and a fully professional, scalable operation.
