Are You Accepting Mobile Payments Yet?

BIA/Kelsey reports that 40% of SMBs now accept payments with mobile credit card readers. Another 16% plan to add that capability in the next year. This is an increase of nearly 50% since the last study they did in October of 2012.

According to Steve Marshall, director of research at BIA/Kelsey, the study shows that the leading provider of mobile payment services by far is PayPal Here, followed by Square and Intuit’s GoPayment service.

This same study found that nearly three-fourths of SMBs are using social media to promote their businesses. 52% of those surveyed have a Facebook business page.

Below are a few of the key findings from BIA/Kelsey’s Local Commerce Monitor – Wave 17. More findings will be presented at the upcoming LEADING IN LOCAL: SMB Digital Marketing conference, which takes place Sept. 11-13, in Austin, Texas.
